Your Medicaid Coverage Ended. What Should You Do?

If your Medicaid coverage has ended, you may still have options for health insurance or financial help. Taking action as soon as possible can help you find the coverage that’s right for you.

Why Did Your Coverage End?

Your coverage may have ended because:

  • You didn’t complete your renewal on time.
  • MDHHS didn’t receive the information they requested.
  • Your income or household has changed.
  • MDHHS couldn’t reach you.

What Should You Do?

Contact MDHHS as soon as possible to find out why your coverage ended and what you can do next. You may still be able to submit missing information and have your case reviewed again.

Check Your Medicaid Case

If you recently lost Medicaid coverage, log in to your MI Bridges account. You can:

  • Read messages and notices from MDHHS.
  • Find out why your coverage ended.
  • Upload requested documents.
  • See if MDHHS needs more information from you.

Health Insurance Marketplace

Apply Through the Health Insurance Marketplace

If you no longer qualify for Medicaid, you may still be able to get affordable health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Many people qualify for financial help that lowers their monthly costs.

If your Medicaid recently ended, you may also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. This lets you sign up for a health plan without waiting for the next open enrollment period.
